Guggenheim Strategic Opportunities Fund is a closed-ended balanced mutual fund launched and managed by Guggenheim Funds Investment Advisors, LLC. The fund is co-managed by Guggenheim Partners Investment Management LLC. It invests in public equity and fixed income markets across the globe. For its equity portion, the fund invests directly and through derivatives such as writing covered call and put options to invest in the stocks of companies operating across diversified sectors. It invests in the value stocks of companies of all capitalizations. The fund employs a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis to create its portfolio. For the fixed income component of its portfolio, it seeks to invest in securities such as corporate bonds, loans, loan participations, structured finance investments, U.S. government and agency securities that are not rated below below CCC by S&P or Caa2 by Moody's. For the equity part of the portfolio the fund benchmarks S&P 500 Index and for the fixed income part it benchmarks Barclays Aggregate Bond Index.
